Rashi Ratan by Planet Which Gemstone Represents Which Planet in Vedic Astrology?

By admin

The traditional Rashi Ratan by planet, or Navagraha gemstones, list connects the 9 planets and their gemstones in Vedic astrology. Ruby belongs to the Sun and Pearl to the Moon. Mars has Red Coral, Mercury has Emerald, Jupiter has Yellow Sapphire, Venus has Diamond and Saturn has Blue Sapphire. Hessonite is linked with Rahu, while Cat's Eye is linked with Ketu.

That answers which gemstone represents each planet. Choosing a stone to wear takes more thought. The Ascendant, house ownership, planetary strength, aspects and Dasha can affect the choice. Use this guide to understand the traditional associations, not as a ready-made prescription.

Quick Answer: Which Gemstone Represents Which Planet?

These are the main Navagraha stones. Substitutes should be sold under their correct names.

What Does Rashi Ratan by Planet Mean?

The phrase simply describes the traditional link between the Navagraha and their gemstones. “Planet” is being used in the astrological sense. Rahu and Ketu are lunar nodes, yet both have a place in the Navagraha system and each has an associated stone.

A stone can represent a planet without being right for every person. Ruby's link with the Sun is fixed within this system. The decision to wear it is not.

Online charts often skip that distinction. A personal horoscope has more layers. If you are looking for the best gemstone according to horoscope, use a sign-based chart for reference and get the recommendation checked separately.

Rashi Ratan by Planet in Vedic Astrology

Sun: Ruby (Manik)

Ruby is known as Manik or Manikya. It is connected with Surya and, in traditional readings, with authority, confidence, identity, leadership and the father.

Ruby is red corundum. Its colour, inclusions and treatment vary, so two stones of the same weight can be very different purchases.

Ruby may be natural, laboratory-created or treated. Glass-filled Ruby should be disclosed clearly because filling affects its value, durability and care.

Moon: Pearl (Moti)

For Chandra, the traditional Ratna is Pearl or Moti. The Moon is associated with emotions, memory, the mind and the mother.

Pearl is organic. Natural Pearls are rare in ordinary retail stock. Cultured Pearls are more common, alongside shell, glass and plastic imitations.

“Real Moti” is not specific enough. Check whether the Pearl is natural, cultured or an imitation.

Mars: Red Coral (Moonga)

Mars is represented by Red Coral, commonly called Moonga. Mangal is linked with drive, courage, competition, land and siblings in Vedic astrology.

Moonga is generally worn in a smooth form rather than as a faceted stone. It comes from marine coral, which also means it does not handle wear like Ruby or Sapphire. Scratches can appear more easily.

Dyed material, reconstructed Coral and glass can look convincing online. Bright red colour alone does not prove that a Moonga is natural.

Mercury: Emerald (Panna)

Panna belongs to Budh. Its traditional associations include communication, study, calculation, trade and quick thinking.

Natural Emerald is green beryl, and visible inclusions are normal. Buyers sometimes reject every included stone and then become attracted to a perfectly clean, inexpensive one. That is exactly where a closer check makes sense.

Oil and resin are commonly used to make surface-reaching fissures less visible. This does not make every treated Emerald fake, but the treatment should be disclosed.

Jupiter: Yellow Sapphire (Pukhraj)

Yellow Sapphire, better known as Pukhraj, is connected with Guru or Brihaspati. Traditional astrology links Jupiter with knowledge, teachers, children, judgement and faith.

Several yellow stones are sold to the same audience. Citrine, Yellow Topaz, synthetic Sapphire and coloured glass can all appear under confusing product titles. They are not Yellow Sapphire.

Pukhraj is yellow corundum. Check the exact identification because Citrine, Yellow Topaz, synthetic Sapphire and yellow glass are different materials.

Venus: Diamond (Heera)

The gemstone for Shukra is Diamond or Heera. Venus is associated with beauty, relationships, art, comfort and luxury.

Here, the source of the stone matters. A natural Diamond and a laboratory-grown Diamond are both Diamond, but they do not have the same origin. Moissanite and Cubic Zirconia are different materials used as lookalikes.

The product description should state clearly whether the stone is a natural Diamond, laboratory-grown Diamond or a simulant.

Saturn: Blue Sapphire (Neelam)

Neelam is the stone of Shani. In Vedic astrology, Saturn is tied to discipline, duty, hard work, delay and endurance.

This stone attracts unusually dramatic marketing. One seller promises instant success; another warns of immediate trouble. Neither claim helps someone compare two actual Sapphires.

The astrological decision belongs with the Kundli. For the stone itself, check whether the Neelam is natural, laboratory-created or treated.

Rahu: Hessonite Garnet (Gomed)

Gomed is Hessonite Garnet, the stone associated with Rahu. It often appears in honey, cinnamon, orange-brown or reddish-brown tones.

Rahu is linked in traditional readings with ambition, foreign connections, confusion, unusual experiences and strong material desire. None of this turns Gomed into a guarantee for a visa, job, court matter or financial gain.

Colour alone is a poor test. Look for the name Hessonite Garnet in the description or report because Gomed can vary in transparency and inclusions.

Ketu: Cat's Eye Chrysoberyl (Lehsunia)

Ketu's gemstone is Cat's Eye Chrysoberyl, called Lehsunia or Vaidurya. Ketu is traditionally associated with detachment, intuition, spiritual inquiry and sudden turns.

The attraction of this stone is the bright line that moves across its curved surface. Gemmologists call the effect chatoyancy. It is easiest to see in a well-cut cabochon under a direct light.

“Cat's Eye” is not a complete identification. Quartz, glass and fibre-optic material can also show an eye-like line, so check the exact gemstone name.

Is the Planet Gemstone the Same as the Birth-Rashi Gemstone?

Sometimes the two point to the same stone, and sometimes they do not. A simple Rashi chart works from the sign and its ruling planet. A personal Kundli also includes the Ascendant, houses, aspects, planetary strength and running Dasha.

Two people with the same Janma Rashi can still have different charts. Recommending one Ratna from the Moon sign alone would ignore those differences.

There are really two questions here. “Which gemstone represents this planet?” has a standard answer. “Which one should I wear?” needs a personal answer.

Can You Wear More Than One Planetary Gemstone Together?

Possibly, but a collection of individually popular stones is not automatically a sensible combination. The astrologer may first look at the planets involved and why each stone is being considered.

The jewellery needs thought too. Pearl, Coral, Emerald and Diamond have different care requirements, especially when combined in a daily-wear ring.

Main Gemstones and Substitute Stones

A substitute may be suggested when the principal Ratna is unavailable or too expensive. It is a different gem, with its own composition, treatment and value.

Ask for the actual name before paying. “Ruby substitute” and “Pukhraj alternative” describe a purpose, not a gemstone. The invoice and report, where supplied, should identify what you are receiving.

How to Check a Planetary Gemstone Before Buying

Astrology can explain why a stone has been recommended. It cannot confirm that the product on a website is natural or correctly described.

When buying Rashi Ratan online, check:

  • Exact gemstone name
  • Natural or laboratory-created status
  • Treatment disclosure
  • Carat weight and measurements
  • Shape and cut
  • Laboratory and report number, if supplied
  • Match between the report and listing
  • Seller contact details
  • Shipping and return conditions

When comparing certified gemstones online in India, open the report and read its wording. A “certified” graphic on a product photo does not establish the stone's identity, treatment or suitability for your horoscope.

Planetary Gemstone Buying Checklist

Before ordering a Rashi Ratan, ask:

  • Which planet is linked with this gemstone?
  • Was it recommended from my Kundli or only my zodiac sign?
  • What is the exact gem?
  • Is it natural, laboratory-created or imitation?
  • Has treatment been disclosed?
  • Are weight and dimensions given?
  • Does the report belong to this stone?
  • Do its details match the listing?
  • Can it be returned before mounting or alteration?

This separates the astrological recommendation from the gem identification and the purchase terms. All three deserve attention.

Rashi Ratan Authenticity vs Astrological Suitability

Authenticity concerns the stone. A laboratory may examine its identity, weight, measurements, origin status and treatment.

Suitability concerns the birth chart. A laboratory cannot choose a planetary remedy, while an astrological recommendation cannot confirm a gemstone's identity.

Before You Choose a Rashi Ratan

The planet-gemstone table shows which Ratna represents each Navagraha. It should not be treated as a personal wearing recommendation.

First confirm why the gemstone has been suggested for your Kundli. Then check what the stone actually is, whether treatment has been disclosed and whether its report matches the product. This keeps the astrological decision separate from the buying decision.

FAQs

Which gemstone represents the Sun in Vedic astrology?

Ruby, called Manik or Manikya, is the Sun's gemstone. Its place in the Navagraha list does not make it suitable for every horoscope.

Which gemstone represents the Moon?

Pearl, or Moti, belongs to the Moon. Check whether the product is natural Pearl, cultured Pearl or an imitation.

Which gemstone is associated with Mars?

Red Coral, known as Moonga, is linked with Mars. Ask whether it is natural coral and whether dye, reconstruction or another treatment has been disclosed.

Which gemstone represents Mercury?

Emerald, or Panna, is Mercury's stone. Oil and resin treatment are common points to check before purchase.

Which gemstone represents Jupiter?

Yellow Sapphire, called Pukhraj, belongs to Jupiter. Citrine, Yellow Topaz and yellow glass are different materials.

Which gemstone represents Venus?

Diamond, or Heera, is associated with Venus. Confirm whether the stone is natural, laboratory-grown or a Diamond simulant.

Which gemstone represents Saturn?

Blue Sapphire, known as Neelam, belongs to Saturn. Its personal suitability should come from the Kundli, not from fear or promises of instant results.

Which gemstones represent Rahu and Ketu?

Hessonite Garnet, or Gomed, is linked with Rahu. Cat's Eye Chrysoberyl, or Lehsunia, is linked with Ketu.

Can I choose a gemstone only from my Rashi?

Not in every case. A Rashi chart is general; a Kundli also considers the Ascendant, houses, aspects, planetary strength and Dasha.

Does wearing a planetary gemstone guarantee results?

No. Wearing a gemstone does not guarantee health, wealth, marriage, employment or any other result.
